GIA Notable Letter Rare 45.02 Cts Natural Jeremejevite, Quality Gemstone
This jeremejevite is near-colorless, which is common for the mineral species that has a color range from colorless to pale shades of yellow and blue. This stone exhibits relatively high clarity, with microscopic examination revealing etch tubes.
Colorless crystals of jeremejevite were first identified in 1883 after being collected on Mount Soktui, in the Adun-Chilon Mountains of Siberia,
Russia. The crystals were named in honor of Russian mineralogist and crystallographer Pavel Vladimirovich Eremeev (Jeremejev, in German) who recognized this new mineral species as a rare aluminum borate mineral.
Jeremejevite is known as a rather rare mineral from a few localities including Russia, Namibia, Myanmar, and Tajikistan. Typically, faceted stones are small only reaching a few carats, with anything above two carats being uncommon. Stones of any size are highly sought after by gemstone collectors due to the minerals' rarity and any large stone is certainly highly desirable.
The combination of large size and rarity makes this jeremejevite a notable gemstone.
